Schedules can be revised, so always confirm against the latest notice on the official portal.
The merit list ranks eligible candidates by their NEET UG score and the state's counselling rules. For Round 3 it comes in stages. The provisional list on October 4 is followed by verified lists for special categories on October 5 and a combined list on October 6.
This staging matters for one reason: your rank can move slightly once verification is done, especially if you belong to a special category. So check your position again after the combined list appears, and make sure your category and details are correct.
If you see an error in your name, category or rank, raise it with the counselling board immediately through the official channels. Don't wait until after the deadline.
Choice filling is mandatory for:
Candidates who resigned from a Round 1 seat without forfeiture (resignation allowed up to September 16, 5:00 PM)
Clause XI "Other" (All India) candidates, who are considered against vacant seats once the state merit list is exhausted
Round 3 also involves a security deposit. Some reports mention ₹5 lakh for choice filling. Because amounts and refund terms can differ by category and situation, read the official notification for your exact figure before paying.
Choices from Round 1 and Round 2 have been scrapped. The portal will not carry your earlier list forward. You must fill choices fresh, even if you were happy with your old order.
Many candidates lose time here because they assume their earlier list still applies. Open the portal, check that your choice list is actually populated, and build it again deliberately.
Step 1: Get your documents and details ready
Keep your NEET scorecard, admit card, category certificate, domicile proof, ID and photographs handy. If you need to confirm details mid-process, you don't want to hunt for them at 10 PM on the last day.
Step 2: Study the Round 3 seat matrix
The seat matrix lists the colleges and seats available this round. By Round 3, the most sought-after government seats have usually been taken in earlier rounds. What remains is a mix of leftover government seats, seats freed by resignations, and a larger share of private college seats. Go through the matrix college by college, and note which seats exist in your category.
Step 3: Shortlist by priority, not by fear
Make three rough buckets:
Dream colleges: the best seats you could plausibly get
Realistic colleges: where your rank and category give you a fair chance
Safe colleges: seats you are almost sure to qualify for and would happily join
Be honest about the "would happily join" part. A safe college you would never attend is not a backup. It is a trap.
Step 4: Use previous closing ranks as a compass
Look at last round's closing ranks for your category and compare them with your own rank. And then make your realistic preferences.
Step 5: Arrange in strict order of preference
This is the single most important step. The allotment software goes down your list from top to bottom and gives you the first seat you qualify for. That means:
If you put a safe college above a dream college, you will get the safe college even if you could have had the dream one.
Your list should reflect what you truly want, in order, not what you think is likely.
Rank dream first, then realistic, then safe.
Step 6: Fill as many choices as you reasonably can
A short list is a risky list. If none of your few choices are available when the software reaches them, you may end up with no allotment. A longer list gives the system more chances to place you. Just make sure every college on it is one you would actually be willing to join.
Step 7: Save, review and lock
You can save and change choices multiple times before the window closes, so use that. Do a final read-through from top to bottom and check for typos in order, duplicates or colleges added by accident. Then lock your list yourself instead of relying on the auto-lock.
•Checked my rank and category on the combined merit list
•Reviewed the Round 3 seat matrix
•Built a fresh list (old choices are gone)
•Ordered by true preference, dream to safe
•Included only colleges I'd actually join
•Read fee, bond and deposit rules
•Keep Documents ready, saved, reviewed and locked before 11:45 PM on October 7
•Waiting until the last evening, when the portal slows down
•Forgetting to save and lock your list
•Adding colleges you would never join
•Not keeping documents ready (NEET scorecard, category and domicile certificates, ID, photos)
The Rajasthan NEET UG Round 3 merit list is out, the window is short, and a managed way of planning can really work for you. Start now: shortlist today, arrange tomorrow, and lock with time to spare. Good luck!
